Friday Forum – Halloween

Posted by Magnolia Mom On October 28, 2005ADD COMMENTS

1] Are you into being scared? [For example, seeing a horror movie, reading a gory novel, visiting a haunted house ...] Why or why not? What’s the scariest movie that you’ve ever seen?
I don’t enjoy being scared anymore. I used to watch scary movies, but I’ve never been one to really enjoy it. I used to go to haunted houses only because my friends wanted to.

The scariest movie…Silence of the Lambs

2] Do you get excited about Halloween costume parties, or do you prefer not to dress up? Why/why not? When’s the last time that you dressed in costume for Halloween? Do you plan to be anything this year?

I don’t dress up, but I get excited for my kids. The last time I dressed up was in college. I’m just going to be a mom this year.

3] Are you carving or decorating a pumpkin for Halloween? If so, how? What do you plan to do with the pumpkin afterward?
We ran out of time this year and probably won’t carve a pumpkin. My class is painting pumpkins today though!

4] Did you do much decorating for autumn this year? Why/why not? What all did you do?
I usually decorate with my little knick-knacks around the house, but I’ve been busy and didn’t put the time into finding the stuff this year. I can never remember where I store my fall stuff.

5] What is your favorite Halloween candy or treat?
I love candy corns, not only the way they taste, but the way they look.

Friday Forum – Snack Attack

Posted by Magnolia Mom On October 14, 2005ADD COMMENTS

1] Which snack foods do you enjoy the most? Do you prefer salty or sweet snacks [or both]?
It depends on my craving. I love to snack so my list is long:
M&M’s, Snickers, Fritos, Apples and Caramel, Necco candy, Hershey Kisses, Doritoes, popcorn, chips, granola bars, cereal, peanut butters and crackers, ETC

2] Do you tend to snack most often during a particular time of day, such as mid-morning or late at night?
I snack all the time (bad, I know!)

3] Have you been craving any snacks in particular lately? Like what?
Lately, Neccos because we got some at WalMart and bought some. I have had to retrain myself from attacking the entire bag!

4] Would you rather snack on chocolate or candy? [In other words, are you a chocolate or a candy person?]
CHOC – O – LATE!!! I’m a major Choco-holic!

5] Do you crave any snacks that others might think are strange? Like what? Did you invent this snack yourself, and how did it come about?
Hmmmmmm….let me think on that one!

Friday Forum (a day early)

Posted by Magnolia Mom On September 1, 2005ADD COMMENTS

1] Summer technically ends on September 22 (the autumnal equinox).
But when do *you* consider summer “over”? Is it when the kids go back
to school? When Labor Day arrives? When it’s September? When your
summer vacation ends? When your weather starts turning cooler?

Well, summer relaxation and enjoyment ends when I go back to work which is now early August:( Before I started working, it was when football season started and the weather started getting cooler. The nice part about starting early August is that by Labor day I’m ready for a holiday!!

2] Have you enjoyed Summer 2005? Why/why not? Is there anything that
you would have liked to do but didn’t? What was a highlight of your
summer?

Summer 2005 has been pretty good, I guess. I always dread May because so many people have passed away in that month and always “itchy” about it! May also brings memories of my grandfather passing away and the very next year my cousin dying with in days of when my Granddad did. Anyway…my summer was highlighted by a good long trip to Texas. We usually race there and back. This time we took more time, although we still raced from town to town, but we were away from home longer. This summer was good because I got to see T walk and that was very exciting!

3] Do you have any plans for Labor Day weekend? What about your
September calendar … what do you have going on this month?
My Labor day weekend will be the first Auburn Football game here in town. Although I’m not going I’ll still join the festivities and the Wreck Tech parade tomorrow! We’re cooking out Saturday before the game and watching football. The game’s on TV so I’ll watch it. As for the rest of the weekend, I need to clean tomorrow, because we’re having company and then I hope to sit back and enjoy after that!

September calendar…
September 5th (Monday) – my mom’s 50th birthday
September 28th (Wednesday) – my dad’s 54th birthday
September 30th (Friday) – my 30th birthday (EEEEEK!!)
My parents and I have birthday in September as you can see! Although my mom is in Texas and my dad is in Colorado, I’ll still be thinking of them:-)
The rest of the calendar will consist of football every Saturday. Mr. A will be starting Soccer and baseball, so we’ll be very busy with those!

4] If you could make summer last forever (in other words, it would be
the only season you’d experience for the rest of your life), would
you do it? Why/why not?

No, I love the other seasons too much to do that!

5] What do you like most about fall? What are your favorite autumn
foods and treats?

I absolutely love fall. I love decorating and making Fall crafts. I love wearing my Halloween socks and T-shirts. I love to give fall gifts to my class and my coworkers. I love candy corn. I love reading Woman’s Day, Family Fun, and Family Circle and getting cute ideas from those. I love the cooler weather when it finally decides to show up, but it seems it goes from Hot to Pretty Cold so quickly.

Friday Forum – Money, Money, Money

Posted by Magnolia Mom On June 24, 2005ADD COMMENTS

I joined Friday Forum today. And here’s the questions for today:

1. If someone gave you $100 right now, how would you spend it and why? (No catches are involved; you can spend the money anywhere and in any way you want.) Would you make a bunch of small purchases or use the money for one big item?

Uhhh…I’d probably spend it on clothes for my boys like I always do. Or I might get stuff for their bathroom that I’m in the process of collecting stuff for it so that I can redo it in a Nautical theme.

2. Do you consider yourself financially savvy? Do you have a good handle on your own financial status? Are you the person who primarily keeps track of your (or your family’s) finances? Do you use a computer program or balance your checkbook by hand?

My husband and I keep up with our finances together on Quicken. We pay bills together and do budgets together, etc!

3. Do you ever play the lottery? Why/why not? Do you think that it would completely change your life, or would you try to continue with the way you’d been living before? What types of lottery games do you play, and how often?

No, never play the lottery. My state doesn’t have the lottery. If I won the lottery, it would depend on how much won.

4. Are you a coupon cutter and bargain hunter, or is money no object to you? Do you tend to do things yourself to save money or pay someone else to do them? Or are you somewhere in-between?

I don’t like to cut coupons, because you can buy the store brand that’s even cheaper. I do try to be thrifty and get the most for my money.

5. What’s the largest amount of money that you’ve ever held in your hands?

Hmmmm…cash? $2,000. In checks? $10,000 or something like that.
